Kosmos 1774(Russian:Космос 1774meaningCosmos 1774) was a SovietUS-Kmissileearly warning satellitelaunched in 1986 as part of the Soviet military'sOkoprogramme. The satellite is designed to identify missile launches usingoptical telescopesandinfrared sensors.[2]
Kosmos 1774 was launched fromSite 16/2atPlesetsk Cosmodromein the Russian SSR.[5]AMolniya-Mcarrier rocket with a2BLupper stage was used to perform the launch, which took place at 08:02 UTC on 28 August 1986.[3]The launch successfully placed the satellite into amolniya orbit.It subsequently received itsKosmosdesignation, and theinternational designator1986-065A.[3]TheUnited States Space Commandassigned it theSatellite Catalog Number16922.[3]
It re-entered the Earth's atmosphere on 2 November 2010.[4]
