Pierre Allorge

Pierre Allorge(12 April 1891 – 21 January 1944) was a Frenchbotanistborn inParis.His wife,Valentine Allorge(1888–1977) was a notedbryologist.

He studiednatural sciencesin Paris, obtaining his doctorate with a thesis titledLes Associations végétales duVexinfrançais.In 1933 he became chair ofcryptogamyat theMuséum d'histoire naturelle.In 1937 he was appointed president of theSociété botanique de France.[1]Together with his wifeValentine Allorgehe issued several series of bryophyteexsiccataein the time span between 1928 and 1949.[2]

In 1924 he founded the journalRevue algologiquewithGontran Hamel(1883–1944).[3]
