Sony Entertainment Television(abbreviated asSET) is an IndianHindi-languagegeneral entertainmentpay televisionchannel that was launched in 1995 and is owned byCulver Max Entertainment,a division ofSony Pictures.[1]

History

This channel was launched on 8 October 1995 which started airing many dramatic and reality shows.[2]It also started airing allDisney Channelshows and Disney movies until 2003 and it also airedCIDandCrime Patrol.[3][4][5]In 2006, Sony made an adaptation of the famous showBig Brother,Bigg Boss.[6]It also made an adaptation of American showFear Factor,Fear Factor India but all these shows were moved toColors TV.

The channel also started international broadcasting, under the nameSony Television Entertainment Asia(SET Asia). The 'Asia' name was dropped effective from December 2016.[7]

In 2001, it changed its logo to a green colour. In November 2016, it changed its logo to a purple colour. In 2022, it changed its logo to match that ofSonyLIV.[8]

Sony Pal(stylised asSony पल) (Hindi for Moment) is an Indian pay television channel that was launched on 1 September 2014. It was initially aimed at women with women-orientedHindi-languageprogramming, now focused on family-oriented programming.[11][better source needed]The channel is owned byCulver Max Entertainment.[12]The channel is available onDish NetworkandSling TVin USA.[13]

Sony Kalis an Indian-based international television service owned byCulver Max Entertainment,itself owned bySony.It was launched on 28 January 2022, and distributesIndian soap operasand other television programs in the United States and Canada. It is available on platforms such asXumo,Sling TV,andTCL.[14][15][16]

Sony LIV

Sony LIVis an Indian Hindi-languagevideo-on-demandover-the-top streaming serviceowned byCulver Max Entertainment,a subsidiary of Sony. Launched on 22 January 2013, it was India's first video-on-demand service, and includes titles from sports toserials.Starting in 2021, Sony LIV has become available internationally in countries such as Jamaica, Canada, South Africa, and Trinidad and Tobago. It is available exclusively onSling TV.[17]
