Duchovny is the daughter of actorsDavid DuchovnyandTéa Leoniand has a younger brother.[2][7]Duchovny's paternal uncle is actor and directorDaniel Duchovny.After living her first ten years in Los Angeles, she moved with her family to New York City.[8]Duchovny had no interest in acting and planned on attending college to studypre-medicalbefore her senior year of high school, where she decided to perform in a staging ofSlut: The Playto help a friend that was directing, and wound up liking the experience.[9][10]
