1166 Avenue of the Americas(also known as theInternational Paper Building[1]) is a 600-foot-tall (180 m) tall office building at 1166Sixth Avenuebetween 45th and 46th Street in theMidtown Manhattanneighborhood ofNew York City.It was completed in 1974 and has 44 floors totaling approximately 1.7 million square feet.Skidmore, Owings & Merrilldesigned the building. It is the headquarters of theMarsh & McLennanCompanies;Penton,D. E. Shaw & Co.,William Blair & Company,Janney Montgomery Scott LLC,5W Public Relations,FTI ConsultingandHuron Consulting Groupare also tenants.[2][3][4]
The building was built in partnership with the Tishman Organization (predecessor toTishman Speyer),Stanley StahlandArlen Realty.[5]
