The1982 CFL seasonis considered to be the 29th season in modern-dayCanadian football,although it is officially the 25thCanadian Football Leagueseason.
CFL News in 1982
[edit]After the 1981 season, theMontreal Alouettesfolded. However, one day later in 1982 theCFLgranted the city ofMontreala new franchise called the Concordes, which assumed the Alouettes' history and player contracts.
The 1982Grey Cupgame between theEdmonton Eskimosand theToronto Argonautsattracted 7,862,000 television viewers, the largest television audience in the history ofCanadian television.
NBCbroadcast fourCFL games in the United Statesover three weeks during the1982 NFL players' strike.[1]
Alcoholic beverages were sold at all CFL venues for the first time, after theOntarian Legislaturevoted to lift the province's long-standing prohibition on alcohol at outdoor stadia shortly before the season began.
The Edmonton Eskimos won their fifth straight Grey Cup championship.

The Eskimos'Warren Moon(QB) was named theGrey Cup's Most Valuable Player on OffenceandDave "Dr. Death" Fennell(DT) was named theGrey Cup's Most Valuable Player on Defenceand was theGrey Cup's Most Valuable Canadian.
