The season consisted of 14rallies.The drivers' world championship was won byJuha Kankkunenin aLancia Delta Integrale 16V,ahead ofCarlos SainzandDidier Auriol.The manufacturers' title was won byLancia,ahead ofToyotaandMitsubishi.
