The2017 FIBA AmeriCupwas the 18th edition of theFIBA AmeriCup,which is the main tournament for senior men'sbasketballnational teams of theFIBA Americas.The tournament was held inMedellín,Colombia,Montevideo,Uruguay,andBahía BlancaandCórdoba,inArgentina,from 25 August, to 3 September 2017.[1]

Unlike previous editions, the tournament did not award spots for theFIBA World Cupor theSummer Olympic Games.However, the top seven teams qualified to the2019 Pan American Games.

TheUnited States,with a team ofNBA G Leagueplayers, won their seventhgold medalat the tournament, after defeatingArgentina,by a score of 81–76, in the final, whileMexicotook home thebronze,by beating theU.S. Virgin Islands,79–65.[2][3]

Qualified teams

The top five teams at the2016 Centrobasketand2016 South American Championshipqualified to the tournament, plus Canada and United States as the only countries in their subregion.

On 5 April 2017FIBA Americasannounced thatArgentina,ColombiaandUruguaywere chosen as the hosts of the AmeriCup.[1]
