Themeridian 90° east ofGreenwichis a line oflongitudethat extends from theNorth Poleacross theArctic Ocean,Asia,theIndian Ocean,theSouthern Ocean,andAntarcticato theSouth Pole.

It is the border between two tropical cyclone basins: theAustralian region,and theSouthwest Indian Ocean basin.[citation needed]

TheNinety East Ridgeis named after the meridian.

The 90th meridian east forms agreat circlewith the90th meridian west.

This meridian is halfway between the Prime meridian and the180th meridianand the center of theEastern Hemisphereis this meridian's intersection with theEquator.
