A. I. Ferree

Arris Idyl Ferree(October 9, 1890 – June 19, 1965)[1]was an American politician and attorney. ARepublicanbased inAsheboro, North Carolina,Ferree served two non-consecutive terms in theNorth Carolina House of Representatives.

He was a graduate of the law school atWake Forest College.He was elected to theNorth Carolina House of Representativesat least twice, serving in the 1925 and 1943 legislatures.[2]

Ferree was the Republican nominee forCongressinNorth Carolina's 7th congressional districtin 1928 (losing toWilliam C. Hammer), for Congress inNorth Carolina's 4th congressional districtin 1936 (losing toHarold D. Cooley), forNorth Carolina Secretary of Statein1940(losing toThad Eure), and for theU.S. Senatein1944(losing toClyde R. Hoey).

He and his wife, Mabel, established the Ferree Foundation to provide higher educational scholarships toRandolph Countystudents.[3]
