The A4230 is a single carriageway road for its whole length. It begins at the Peniel Green roundabout (junction with theM4 motorwayand theA48) in the far east ofLlansamlet.It travels east through the Lonlas area of Skewen before passing through centralSkewen,after which it traverses the Neath Abbey area before connecting with theA474at theCwrt Herbertroundabout inDyffryn Clydach.It then follows the same road as theA474along Neath Abbey Road then thoughCadoxtonuntil it connects with theA465just south ofAberdulais.
