Abu Amama
Appearance
Abu Amamais a proposed new seaport located 200 km to the north ofPort Sudanon theRed Sea.It has an attached enterprise zone. A 200 km road fromPort Sudanis included in the project.[1]The project includes an adjoining industrial zone. Abu Amama will be built and operated byAD Ports Groupof theUnited Arab EmiratesandInvictus InvestmentofDubai.[2]
The agreement to develop the port was signed in 2022. On 3 November 2024, the Sudanese government cancelled the agreement to develop the port, citing Abu Dhabi's support for theRapid Support Forcesin theSudanese civil war (2023–present).[3]
