Abu El Matamir(Arabic:ابو المطاميرpronounced[abol.mɑtˤɑˈmiːɾ]) is a city inEgypt.In 2006, it had a population of 44,415.[1]
The city existed before the Islamic conquest of Egypt, and the Romans used it as a grain storage. The city acquired this name because wheat was stored in the past in Matamirs.
Etymology
[edit]The Arabic name is from two wordsابو"attributed"/"belonging"/father"andالمطامير"theplummets".
