Actes Sudis a French publishing house based inArles.It was founded in 1978 by authorHubert Nyssen.[1][2][3]By 2013, the company, then headed by Nyssen's daughter,Françoise Nyssen,[1]had an annual turnover of 60 million euros and 60 staff members.[2]
History
[edit]ACTeS was situated inParadou,a village in theVallée des Baux.Here, founderHubert Nyssen,his wife Christine Le Bœuf, (which was the granddaughter ofBelgianbankerandpatronHenry Le Bœuf[4]), his sisterFrançoise Nyssen,Bertrand Py and Jean-Paul Capitani met and founded Actes Sud. In 1983 Actes Sud moved toArles.The publishing house was incorporated on 2 May 1987.[5]
TheActes Sudwas a publication of the "Atelier de cartographie thématique et statistique" (ACTeS).[6]

- 2015:Compass(Bussole) byMathias Énard,also published by Actes Sud, received the Prix Goncourt.[9]
