Adeline McKinlay

Adeline "Addie" Maud McKinlay(1868-1955) was an Americantennisplayer.

Early life[edit]

Adeline McKinlay was born 13 January 1865 inDubuque, Iowa.Her father was a Scottish Immigrant, whose name was often mistaken for "McKinley." She graduated fromVassar Collegein 1888 and began training for theUS Women's National Championship.[1]

Career[edit]

She notably won the US Women's National Championship in1892in women's doubles withMabel Cahill.[2]McKinlay went on to represent theNew York Tennis Club.After settling in New York, she married Horace Hatch on 12 October 1893 in the First Baptist Church, Manhattan.[3]

Death[edit]

McKinley died on July 6, 1955 in New York City. She left a son and a daughter.
