TheAerospace, Security and Defence Industries Association of Europe(ASD) is atrade associationfor theaerospace,defenseandsecurityindustries in Europe. According to the organization, it represents over 3,000 companies in 17 countries.

The organization was formed in 2004 through the merger of the Association of European Space Industry (Eurospace), European Association of Aerospace Industries (AECMA) and European Defence Industries Group (EDIG).[1][2]

Activities[edit]

The organization serves as alobbying groupandpolicy advocatefor the industry within theEuropean Unionestablishment,[3]in particular theEuropean Defence Agency,theEuropean Union Aviation Safety Agency,as well as theEuropean Union Agency for the Space Programme.[4]

The organization is responsible for maintaining theASD-STE100 Simplified Technical English (STE)standards for aerospacetechnical documentation.
