Olushola Oluwaseun Ajose,better known by his stage nameAfrikan Boy(born 28 March 1989),[2]is a Nigerian-borngrimeartist from theWoolwichdistrict ofLondon.[3]He went viral with a track entitled "One day I went toLidl",recorded at That SP Studios.[4][5][6][7]

Ajose made a guest appearance on the track "Hussel" from theM.I.A.albumKala,[8]and is one of the initial artists M.I.A. wanted signed to her labelN.E.E.T. Recordings(then called Zig-Zag) in 2007.[9]A remix of M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes"was uploaded onto her MySpace featuring Afrikan Boy and tourmateRye Rye.Afrikan Boy has never appeared onpirate radio,[3]a performance opportunity common in the grime genre.[10]He studied for aPsychologydegree atBrunel University.[11]

Touring in support of M.I.A. on her 2007KALA Tourand 2008People Vs. Money Touras well as headlining his own shows, Ajose has appeared at theSplash! festival.On 26 June 2011, he released hismixtapenamed "What Took You So Long" on hiswebsitefor free. On 18 August 2014, he released his LPThe ABCDon Yam Records.[12][13]

Ajose also contributed to the work of DJ Shadow and Africa Express alongside Baaba Maal, Femi Kuti, Damon Albarn and Fatoumata Diawara.[14] His song "Hit Em Up" also featured on thesoundtrackfor the 2016 video gameForza Horizon 3.
