Alan Mahar(born 1949) is an English author and publisher.

Biography[edit]

Born inLiverpool,Mahar studied at theUniversity of Londonbefore moving toBirminghamin 1976, working atSolihull Collegeand living first inSparkhilland then inMoseley.[1]

He was a founder of theTindal Street Fiction Groupin 1982, and of theTindal Street Press,where he is now the Publishing Director, in 1998.[2]

His 1999 novelFlight Patternstold the story of a French parachutist inLiverpoolin 1957, while his 2002 second novelAfter the Man Beforeconcernsurban renewalin 1980s Birmingham. Mahar has had short stories published in journals including theLondon MagazineandCritical Quarterly.[2]
