Allison Beth Adler(born May 30, 1967) is a Canadian-Americantelevision producerand writer. She is the co-creator ofSupergirlandThe New Normal,and is also known for her work onChuckandFamily Guy.[1]

Early life

Adler was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, to aJewishfamily.[2][3]Her grandfather and father wereHolocaustsurvivors from Romania.[2][3]They later became American citizens.[2][3]

Career

Adler began her career by working on a TV series namedVeronica's Closetin 1997. From 2001 to 2002, Adler produced 13 episodes ofFamily Guy[4]and 16 episodes ofJust Shoot Me!;she was supervising producer for nine episodes ofStill Standing.She was co-executive producer on various shows, includingLife As We Know It,Women of a Certain Age,andEmily's Reasons Why Not.

Adler producedChuckas co-executive and executive producer from 2007 to 2010. Adler then joined theABCseriesNo Ordinary Familyin May 2010 and in 2011 became a part ofGlee's writing team starting with the third season.[5]She andGleecreatorRyan Murphyco-createdThe New Normal,which she worked on until it was cancelled in May 2013.[6]

In 2015, Adler co-createdSupergirlwithGreg BerlantiandAndrew Kreisberg.The drama based on Superman's female cousin,Kara Zor-El.[7]After two seasons, in 2017 Adler leftSupergirlfull-time to joinThe CW's reboot ofDynastyand sign a development deal withCBS Television Studios.[8]

Advocacy

In October 2023, Adler signed an open letter byArtists4CeasefiretoJoe Biden,President of the United States,calling for aceasefireof Israeli bombardment in Gaza.[9]

Personal life

From 2001 to 2011, Adler was in a relationship with actressSara Gilbert.They have two children—a son, Levi Hank, born to Adler in October 2004,[10]and a daughter, Sawyer Jane, born to Gilbert in August 2007.[11][12]In August 2011, Gilbert announced that she and Adler had separated amicably.[13]
