America in The Morningis a news program airing on numeroustalk radiostations,syndicatedbyWestwood One,asubsidiaryofCumulus Media.The one-hour live program airs weekdays at 5:00 a.m.Eastern Timeand is hosted by John Trout. The show features reports fromAP Radio News,as well as a national forecast fromAccuWeather,a look ahead to the day onWall StreetfromCNBC,and the short-form featureOffbeat.[1]The program originally debuted on theMutual Broadcasting Systemon September 17, 1984.[2]Jim Bohannonhosted the broadcast until December 2015. At that point, Trout took over the hosting chores after Bohannon decided to cut back his schedule, concentrating on his nightly Westwood One talk show.[3]Before his death in November 2022, Bohannon continued to contributefeature storiesand interviews toAmerica in the Morning.[4]

A weekend version,America This Week,another former Mutual news program, is available from Westwood One.[5]An alternate one-hour Westwood One news program known asFirst Light,hosted by news anchor Michael Toscano, also aired at 5 a.m. Eastern Time[6]until its cancellation on July 29, 2022. The two broadcasts had similar formats and some reporters were heard on both programs.
