Andreas Kirchner(17 August 1953 – 10 November 2010) was anEast Germanhammer throwerandbob pusherfor record holderWolfgang Hoppe.

He competed in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Competing in twoWinter Olympics,he won two medals in the four-man with a gold in1984and a bronze in1980.He was born inErlbach-Kirchberg,Saxony.

Kirchner also won two medals in the two-man event at theFIBT World Championshipswith a silver in1981and a bronze in1982.

On 15 November 2010 he was found dead in his apartment inSuhl,Thuringiawhere he worked as a teacher.[1]He was 57.
