Andrew Nikiforuk
Andrew Nikiforuk(born 1955) is a Canadian journalist and author. His writing has appeared in many outlets, includingSaturday Night,Maclean's,Alberta Views,Alternatives Journal,and national newspapers. He has won multiple National Magazine Awards for his work.[1]In 1990, theToronto Starawarded him an Atkinson Fellowship in Public Policy to study AIDS and the failure of public health policy.[2]He has also published numerous books, includingSaboteurs: Wiebo Ludwig's War Against Oil,which won theGovernor General's Award in 2002[3]andTar Sands: Dirty Oil and the Future of a Continent,which won the Rachel Carson Environment Book Award for 2008-09 from theSociety of Environmental Journalists.[4]
In 2010, Nikiforuk becameThe Tyee'sfirst writer in residence.
