Ann Pornelis a Canadiansketch comedian,actress, and television host based in Toronto.

Pornel was born in thePhilippinesand immigrated to Canada with her family as a child.[1][2]She grew up in theHigh Parkarea of Toronto.[2]

Pornel got into sketch comedy as an undergraduate student in the sciences at the University of Toronto and seeking a non-academic outlet.[2]She is a former member ofThe Sketchersonsand performed in the troupe's weekly sketch showSunday Night Live.[3]She later joinedThe Second Cityand starred in the all-woman productionShe the Peoplefeaturing Second City sketches written by and about women.[4][5]In a review of the show forNOW,Glenn Sumi called Pornel a "force of nature."[5]She was named the 2017 Performer of the Year byMy Entertainment World.[6]

In 2021, she debuted alongsideAlan Shane Lewisas the co-hosts of the fourth season ofThe Great Canadian Baking Show.[7][8]A fashion enthusiast, Pornel collaborated with designer Vanessa Magic to come up with her wardrobe for the show.[3]Prior to her co-hosting duties on theBaking Show,Pornel appeared in guest roles on theBaroness von Sketch ShowandThis Hour Has 22 Minutes.[3]In 2023, she guest starred in season 2 ofRun the Burbsepisode 5, "Phestival of Life" and episode 7, "Phresh Start" playing real estate agent Orelei Pena. In the same year she appeared in the filmMother of All Shows.

Lewis and Pornel received aCanadian Screen Awardnomination for Best Host or Presenter in a Factual or Reality/Competition Series at the10th Canadian Screen Awardsin 2022 forThe Great Canadian Baking Show.[9]In 2023, she was nominated and was the recipient of the Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards,[10]
