Annavaramis a temple town on the banks of the Pampa River. It is located inKakinada districtof theIndian stateofAndhra Pradesh.[2]The village has the temple ofVeera Venkata Satyanarayana,a form ofVishnuon the Ratnagiri Hill.[3]It is 18 km away fromTunicity.

Etymology

Annatranslates tofoodin Telugu, the local language and the place was known for distribution of food, which might have given the settlement its name as Annavaram. Another derivative was fromAnina varam,possessing boon from the lord, would have also given the name.[4]

National Highway 16passes through the village. TheAPSRTCoperates bus services fromAnnavaram bus station.[5]Annavaram railway stationis located on theHowrah-Chennai main line.It is classified as aB–categorystation in theVijayawada railway divisionofSouth Central Railway zone.[6]
