Arctosuchusis an extinctgenusofgorgonopsidfrom theLopingian(Permian). The type species,A. tigrinus,is from theTeekloof Formation(TropidostomaAssemblage Zone),[1][2][3]although a second species,A. buceros,from theWolfville Formation(Upper Wolfville Member) ofNova Scotia,Canada,may also belong to the genus, but it is from theTriassicand it probably instead belongs to an indeterminatesynapsid.[4]

The type and only specimen ofA. tigrinusconsists of a fragmentary skull and fragmentary dentary.[5]The remains ofA. bucerosare unknown and are possibly now lost.
