Ariana Bayler(born 14 December 1996) is aNew Zealandrugby unionplayer. She plays for theBlack Fernsinternationally and was a member of their2021 Rugby World Cupchampion squad. She also plays forChiefs Manawain theSuper Rugby Aupikicompetition and represents Waikato provincially.
Biography[edit]
2013–2015[edit]
Bayler attendedHamilton Girls' High Schooland made herFarah Palmer Cupdebut forWaikatoas a 16-year-old in 2013. She has suffered threeACL injuriesin her career since 2015.[1][2]
2020[edit]
In 2020 she played for theNew Zealand Barbarians[3]against theBlack Fernsand then later for the Probables against the Possibles.[4][5]
2021[edit]
Bayler was named in theBlack Fernssquad for their end of year tour ofEnglandandFrance;she featured in all four test matches.[6][7][8]She made her international debut in theBlack Ferns100th test match, she came off the bench againstEnglandinExeteron 31 October 2021.[9][10][11]
TheChiefsnamed her in their squad for the inaugural season ofSuper Rugby Aupiki.[12]Bayler was also in the initial team that beat theBluesatEden Parkin the historic first women'sSuper Rugbymatch in New Zealand.[13]
2022[edit]
Bayler was named in the Black Ferns squad for the2022 Pacific Four Series.[14]She was recalled into the squad for the August test series against theWallaroosfor theLaurie O'Reilly Cup.[15]She was selected for the Black Ferns2021 Rugby World Cup32-player squad.[16][17]
