Aristonectinaeis asubfamilyofplesiosaursin the familyElasmosauridae.It includes theLate CretaceousplesiosaursAristonectesandKaiwhekea,traditionally grouped with theLate JurassicTatenectesandKimmerosaurusin the family Aristonectidae. They are distinguished by the fact that they have a very enlargedskullcompared to the width of the body, a moderately shortneckand more than 25teethin themaxilla.[1]
