Arrow cresting

Acresting machine(also called anarrow-cresting machine,anarrow-crester,or simply acrester[1]) is a machine that aids in the adding of coloured lines calledcrestingtoarrowsin order to identify thefletcher.Cresting machines are smalllathesthat consist of achuckand anengineattached to a board.[2]Cresting machines do not paint the arrows themselves but are ratherjigsthat rotate the arrows uniformly so that a separate steadily held paintbrush can paint the cresting accurately.[3]
