Ashiestielis a village in theScottish Bordersarea ofScotland,in the Parish ofCaddonfoot,on the south side of theRiver Tweed,4m (6.5 km) east ofInnerleithen.[1]
The original name of this village in the RoyalEttrick Forestwas "Echesteile" in 1456. Ashiestiel House was the home ofSir Walter Scottfrom 1804 until he moved toAbbotsford Housein 1812.[1][2]
Ashiestiel Hill rises to 402 m (1319 ft).
