Avva(Russian:А́вва) is an old and uncommonRussianmalefirst name.[1]Included into various, often handwritten, church calendars throughout the 17th–19th centuries, it was omitted from the officialSynodalMenologiumat the end of the 19th century.[2]It may have derived from theBiblical Hebrewwordabba,meaningfather.[1]
