Formation, dissolution and feud (2011–2012)[edit]

Awesome Truth before a match in 2011

On the August 22, 2011 episode ofRaw,Miz and Truth attackedSantino Marellabefore his match and then proceeded to cut a promo bashingTriple Habout not using them properly. The next week, Truth interfered in The Miz's match and both of them attackedCM Punk.On the September 5 episode ofRaw,Miz and Truth, now collectively known as "Awesome Truth", challenged Air Boom (Evan BourneandKofi Kingston) to a match for theWWE Tag Team ChampionshipatNight of Champions,but were disqualified after Miz assaulted a referee during the match.[1]Miz and Truth were subsequently fired by Triple H the following night onRaw.[2]

AtHell in a Cell,Awesome Truth attackedAlberto Del Rio,CM Punk,John Cenaand referees after theWWE Championshipmatch ended. After this, the entire WWE roster came out to find a way intothe cellbefore police officers were able to get the door open and arrest them.[3]On the October 10 episode ofRaw,Awesome Truth were reinstated byJohn Laurinaitis.AtVengeance,Awesome Truth defeated Punk and Triple H in a tag team match, due to interference fromKevin Nash.[4]Later that same night, they attacked Cena during his WWE Championship match with Del Rio, costing him the match and sparking a feud with Cena in the process.[5]On the October 24 episode ofRaw,Awesome Truth attackedZack Ryderbackstage just before Ryder would team up with Cena. As a result, Laurinaitis announced a tag team match forSurvivor Series,but allowed Cena to choose his own partner, who ultimately choseThe Rock.At the event on November 20, Awesome Truth were defeated by Cena and Rock in the main event.[6]The following night onRaw,Cena instigated an argument between R-Truth and Miz, which ultimately led to the team's dissolution as Miz attacked R-Truth with aSkull Crushing Finaleonto the stage.[7][8]Following the event, Killings was suspended for 30 days for violating the Wellness Policy.[9]

On the December 26 episode ofRaw,Truth returned to attack Miz after the latter lost to Cena via countout, turning Truthfacein the process. This was followed by back-and-forth assaults on the two throughout January.[10]Miz and Truth crossed paths in the2012 Royal Rumble match,with Miz entering at #1 and Truth entering at #3, but Truth was eliminated by Miz, who would go to last 45:39 before being eliminated byBig Show.[11]Both Miz and Truth wrestled for the WWE Championship against CM Punk,Chris Jericho,Dolph Ziggler,and Kofi Kingston atElimination Chamber,but neither were able to win.[12][13]The two were subsequently in opposite teams atWrestleMania 28,with Truth joiningTheodore Long's team while Miz joined Laurinaitis' team in a12-man tag team matchto determine the General Manager of bothRawandSmackDown,in which Laurinaitis' team would win when Miz pinned Zack Ryder.[14]

One-off reunions (2013, 2019)[edit]

On September 21, 2013, Miz and R-Truth facedThe Shield(Roman ReignsandSeth Rollins) for the WWE Tag Team Championship on ahouse show.They won the match by disqualification but did not win the championships since titles do not change hands via disqualification.[15]

In early 2019, Miz was involved in a feud withShane McMahonand the latter's alliesDrew McIntyreandElias.Miz and R-Truth teamed together on the June 18, 2019 episode ofSmackDownin a losing effort against McIntyre and Elias.[16]

Reunion as fan favorites (2024–present)[edit]

In November 2023, R-Truth became involved in a storyline withThe Judgment Day,a stable consisting ofDamian Priest,Rhea Ripley,Finn Bálor,"Dirty" Dominik Mysterio,andJD McDonagh,in which Truth thought himself to be a member of the stable. This ended when the entire stable attacked Truth in the ring on the December 11 episode ofRaw.[17]AtRaw:Day 1on January 1, 2024, Miz hosted an in-ringMiz TVsegment with The Judgment Day, but they refused to appear. Truth appeared instead and spoke on behalf of the group. Subsequently, the group confronted Truth over his delusion before Miz defended Truth. Miz and Truth subsequently defeated Mysterio and McDonagh in their first match as a team since 2019.[18]Over the next few weeks, Miz would continue to try and convince Truth that he was not a member of The Judgment Day, despite Truth's protests. AtRoyal Rumbleon January 27, both Miz and Truth participated in the men's Royal Rumble match, where they briefly teamed up and performed their signature Awesome Truth dance, before they were eliminated byGuntherand Priest, respectively.[19]On the following episode ofRaw,Truth was attacked by The Judgment Day after they officially declared that he wasn't a member of the group. Miz tried to save him but both were beaten down by the stable.[20]

On the March 18 episode ofRaw,Miz and Truth defeated Indus Sher (VeerandSanga) to qualify for thesix-pack ladder matchfor theUndisputed WWE Tag Team ChampionshipatWrestleMania XL.[21]At Night 1 of WrestleMania XL on April 6, Truth climbed the ladder and retrieved theRaw Tag Team Championship,giving Truth his first WrestleMania win and the team's first title win.[22]On the April 15 episode ofRaw,the Raw Tag Team Championship was renamed to the World Tag Team Championship and the team was presented with new championship belts by WWEchief content officerPaul "Triple H" Levesqueand thegeneral managerof RawAdam Pearce.[23]On the April 22 episode ofRaw,Miz and Truth successfully defended their titles in their first title defense against#DIY(Johnny GarganoandTommaso Ciampa).[24]On the June 24 episode ofRaw,they lost the titles to Bálor and McDonagh after interference fromCarlito,Mysterio, andWomen's World ChampionLiv Morgan,ending their reign at 79 days.[25]
