Aziz Naza(bornAbdul Aziz Kunji Markar;7 May 1938 – 8 October 1992), was an Indianplayback singer,live performer and music director known forChadhta Sooraj Dheere DheereandJhoom Barabar Jhoom Sharabi.[1][2]Gifted with an extraordinary range of vocal abilities, he is widely regarded as the veteran and one of the greatestqawwalisingers.[3][4]

He sang duets alongside playback singersMohammed Rafi,Kishore Kumar,Mahendra Kapoor,Asha Bhosleunder music directorsMadan Mohan,Rajesh Roshan,R D Burman,Khayyam,Laxmikant Pyarelal,Kalyanji Anandji,Ravindra Jain.[5]

Naza was one of the most famous Qawwali playback singers inIndian cinema.In the year 1975 his qawwali singleJhoom Barabar Jhoom Sharabidominated the top 10 List ofBinaca geetmalafor 20 consecutive weeks.[6]His other notable songs as a playback singer areHoke Mayoos Tere Dar Sefor movieLaila Majnu,Qurbani Qurbanititle song forQurbani,Bhajan Bina Chain Na AayeforRafoo ChakkarSunle Tu Binati Meri Haji AliforNehle Pe Dehlaconsidered as an all-time hit. Aziz Naza received a special award for the MovieQurbani.He was signed byGramophone CompanyCalcutta,India in the early 1960s. Naza composed the musical score for the moviePyaar Ke Raahidirected byAtma Ram.[7]
