Baek Jin-hee(Korean:백진희;born February 8, 1990) is a South Korean actress.[4]She began to be known for her role inHigh Kick: Revenge of the Short Legged(2011–2012) and rose to prominence for her role inEmpress Ki(2013). She also starred in the television dramaThe Real Has Come!(2023).
Career
[edit]Baek Jin-hee began her entertainment career after getting scouted on the streets by a talent agent. She has since then starred in theindie filmBandhobi(2009), where she plays a rebellious girl who befriends a Bangladeshimigrant worker;[5][6][7]and sex comedyFoxy Festival(2010) where she plays a teenager with a thriving business selling her used underwear.[8]
Baek then starred in thesitcomHigh Kick: Revenge of the Short Legged(2011–2012), playing a fresh graduate looking for employment. The series was popular and led to increased recognition for the actress.[9]This was followed with supporting roles in fusion historical dramaJeon Woo-chi[10]and romance dramaPots of Gold.[11]
Baek had her breakthrough role as the villainous empress Tanashiri (Danashiri) in the period dramaEmpress Ki(2013–2014),[12]She next starred as an orphaned casino dealer in melodramaTriangle(2014),[13]and a passionate prosecutor in legal dramaPride and Prejudice(2014).[14][15]
In 2015, Baek played the title role in family dramaMy Daughter, Geum Sa-wol,which was a hit and ended with national viewership of 33.6 percent.[16]
In 2017, Baek played leading roles in the disaster dramaMissing 9,[17]and office comedy seriesJugglers.[18][19]
In 2018, Baek was cast as the female protagonist in thethird installmentof theLet's Eatfranchise.[20]The same year, she starred in the webtoon-based romantic comedy dramaFeel Good to Die.[21]
Personal life
[edit]Baek Jin-Hee is the eldest of three sisters.[4]
On March 26, 2017, Baek's agency confirmed that Baek has been in a relationship with herMy Daughter, Geum Sa-wolco-star,Yoon Hyun-minsince April 2016.[22]On September 4, 2023, the couple announced their break-up after 7 years of dating.[23]
