Bagmati Zone(Nepali:बागमती अञ्चलListenBāgmatī Añcal) was one of the fourteenzonesofNepaluntil the restoration of zones toProvinces.Its headquarters are Kathmandu. It was named after theBagmati River.It was in theCentral Development Regionof Nepal. The districts are now all part ofBagmati Province.The zone contains theKathmandu Valleywith its conurbation of 4.5 million inhabitants.[citation needed]
