TheBajo Barreal Formationis a geologicalformationin theGolfo San Jorge BasinofChubutandSanta Cruz,Argentina whose strata date back to theMiddle CenomaniantoLate Turonian.The formation was first described by Teruggi & Rossetto in 1963.[1]Thesandstones,claystones,mudstones,conglomeratesandtuffwere deposited in afluvialenvironment.[2]The upper part of formation is laterally equivalent to theYacimiento El TrébolandMeseta Espinosa Formationand the lower part to theLaguna Palacios,Cañadón SecoandComodoro Rivadavia Formations.The Bajo Barreal Formation is areservoir rockin the Golfo San Jorge Basin.[3]
