Beau Jesse Garrett(born December 28, 1982) is an American actress and model. She began her career appearing inGUESSadvertisements in the late 1990s after being discovered by anElitemodeling agent at age fourteen. She made her feature film debut in the horror filmTuristas(2006) before portrayingCaptain RayeinFantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer(2007) and Gem inTron: Legacy(2010).
Garrett would later appear as a regular guest star on the television seriesCriminal Minds: Suspect Behavior(2011) and had a regular role onGirlfriends' Guide to Divorcefrom 2014 to 2018. In 2017, she portrayed Jessica Preston on theABCseriesThe Good Doctor.
Early life[edit]
Garrett was born atCedars Sinai HospitalinLos Angeles,on December 28, 1982, as the second child of David and Randi Garrett (née Rowland).[2]She was raised inTopanga, California,in theSanta Monica Mountains[3]where, as a child, she frequently rode horses.[4]In her youth, Garrett became a competitiveequestrian.[5]She is the sister of Autumn Meisel (née Garrett) and the cousin of actorKyle Chandler.[5]
At age 13, Garrett was discovered by anElitemodeling agent while singing Christmas carols with her school's choir in a Los Angeles shopping mall.[4]Her parents agreed to allow her to model to earn money to pay for her horse's boarding fees.[4]She participated at the 1997Elite Model Lookand was one of thesemi-finalistsat the international finale of the competition.[6]Garrett worked professionally as a model from ages 14 to 21.[7]Commenting on modeling at a young age, she said: "That was such a kind of strange and interesting time, those years, but it wasn’t sustainable for me."[7]
Career[edit]
She was first hired byGuessin the late 1990s. In 2008, she became a spokesmodel forRevloncosmetics, along withHalle Berry,Jessica Biel,Jennifer ConnellyandJessica Alba,[8]and has also modeled forDouble D RanchandCosmoGirl.She is signed to Vision Model Management, Los Angeles.[1]
Garrett was the female lead in a music video for the song "Cold"by the bandCrossfadein 2004, before making her feature film debut in thehorror filmTuristas(2006), oppositeJosh Duhamel,Melissa George,andOlivia Wilde.[9]Prior to appearing in film, Garret had made three appearances on television episodes including apilot,as well as appearances onEntourage.
In 2007, she was cast in a supporting role asFrankie RayeinFantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,the sequel toFantastic Four.[10]The following year, she had a minor role in the romantic comedyMade of Honor(2008).[11]
In the spring of 2009, she filmed the 2010 filmTron: LegacyinVancouver, British Columbia,opposite herTuristasco-star Olivia Wilde.[12]In 2010, she also starred in the season-sixHouseepisode "Remorse", again with Wilde, as well as the independent crime filmFreelancers(2010), starring50 Cent,Forest Whitaker,andRobert De Niro.[13]
In 2017, Garrett performed the role of attorney Jessica Preston in the hit ABC seriesThe Good Doctor.[14]
