Ben Hellewell(born 30 January 1992) is aScotlandinternationalrugby leaguefootballer who plays as asecond-rowforward forSalford Red Devilsin theBetfred Super League.

He was contracted to theWarrington Wolvesin theSuper League,playing on loan fromWarringtonat theYork City Knightsin theChampionshipand theBarrow RaidersinChampionship 1.He played forFeatherstone Roversin theCo-operative Championship,and on loan fromFeatherstoneat theDewsbury Ramsin theKingstone Press Championship.He has also played for theLondon Broncosin the Championship and in theBetfred Super League,and on loan from theBroncosat theSheffield Eaglesin theBetfred Championship.Hellewell also played for the Leigh Centurions in thesecond-tierand the Super League. Earlier in his career he played as acentre,fullbackandwinger.

In 2019 he helped the Eagles to win the inaugural1895 Cupas they defeated theWidnes Vikings36–18 in the final.[5]He has earned 9 caps forScotlandin the European competitions and the2013 Rugby League World Cup.

Hellewell started his career with theBradford Bulls,coming through the Bulls Academy at his hometown club.

Warrington

Hellewell moved toWarringtonto begin his professional career. He won the Rugby League 9s tournament in June 2011 with Warrington. In 2012 he was sent on loan fromWarringtonat theYork City Knightsin theChampionship.Hellewell spent part of 2012 on loan at theBarrow RaidersinChampionship 1.[citation needed]

Featherstone

After failing to make a first team appearance for Warrington, he joinedFeatherstone Roversin 2012, ahead of the2013 RFL Championship season.[6] He played forFeatherstone Roversin theCo-operative Championship,and on loan fromFeatherstoneat theDewsbury Ramsin the2014 Kingstone Press Championship.

London Broncos

He joined theLondon Broncosahead of the2015 RFL Championship season.

In 2019 he spent time on loan from theBroncosat theSheffield Eaglesin theBetfred Championship.During that spell at theEagleshe helped the Eagles to win the inaugural1895 Cupas they defeatedWidnes36–18 in the final.[7] In four years in the capital he played over 100 games, including gaining promotion to theSuper League.

He joinedLeighahead of their2020 RFL Championship season.

Featherstone

On 28 May 2022, Hellewell played for Featherstone in their2022 RFL 1895 Cupfinal loss againstLeigh.[8]

Salford

In the 2023 Super League season, Hellewell played 17 matches for Salford as the club finished 7th on the table and missed the playoffs.[9]

International

Hellewell is aScotlandinternational having made his début in 2011. He was named in their squad for the2013 Rugby League World Cup,and scored two tries in their30–30 drawwithItaly.[citation needed]

In October and November 2014, he played in the2014 European Cupcompetition. In October and November 2015, Ben played in the2015 European Cupcompetition. He was named in the Scotland squad for2016 Rugby League Four Nations.He was named in the Scotland squad for2017 Rugby League World Cup.
