Bethlehem Chapel, Richmondis an independentCalvinisticchapel on the east side of Church Terrace inRichmond, London.Built in 1797,[2]the small one-storeystuccoedbuilding is Grade II*listed.It still has its original galleried interior withpewsandpulpit.[3]

History

The church was built by John Chapman, who was amarket gardenerinPetersham.[1]It wasfunded by subscriptionand is known as a "Huntington Chapel"[1]as it was opened by Calvinist preacherWilliam Huntington[1][4]who founded or opened chapels throughout England, many of which have survived.[5]

Hansardrecords a petition to theHouse of Lordson 14 May 1846 by "Thomas William Dawson, on behalf of the Church and Congregation of Protestant Dissenters of Bethlehem Chapel, Richmond, in favour of theCharitable Trusts Bill".[6]

Services and other activities

The church is traditional in worship and doctrine and uses theAuthorised King James Versionof the Bible.[7]Services are held on Sunday mornings at 11:00 am. There are prayer andBible studysessions on Thursday evenings at 8:00 pm.[7]
