Biandukou(Chinese:Biển đô khẩu;pinyin:Biǎndōukǒu) is a pass with an elevation of over 3,500 m in theAltyn-Tagh,China.It linksMinle CountyofGansuin the north andQilian CountyofQinghaiin the south.[1]
Biandukou has been an important pass in history. It could have been through here that the Chinese Buddhist travelerFaxianarrived inZhangye,Gansu in the end of the 4th century AD.[2]During theSui dynasty,it was known as Dadoubagu (Chinese:Đại đấu bạt cốc;pinyin:Dàdòubágǔ).Emperor Yang of Suiwent to Zhangye in 609 AD through Dadoubagu, where many people died from cold weather.[3]
