Binanda Chandra Barua

Binanda Chandra Barua(1901 - 1994) was a notedIndianwriter and poet ofAssamese literature[1]fromTeok,Assam.He is popularly known asDhwoni Kobi.His pen-name isKerpai Sarma.He was President of theAsam Sahitya Sabhain 1966.[2]Some of the popular books of the writer are Gargaon, Sankhadhwani, Jaidhwani and Pratidhwani etc. 'Garhgaon' is an eminent poem of him where he describes the royalty of the capitalGarhgaoninAhom kingdom.He was honored with the title of Sahityacharya by the Assam Sahitya Sabha in 1989. He contributed to the development of Assamese drama during thepre-independence period.[3]His son is eminent Indian painter and artistNeel Pawan Barua[4]who is married to noted Assamese singerDipali Barthakur.
