Blythe Hartley(born May 2, 1982) is aCanadianOlympicdiver.[1]She was born inEdmonton,Albertaand began diving at age 12.

Personal life

She went to theNational Sport SchoolinCalgary,Alberta with many other top Canadian athletes.[2]Hartley attendedHandsworth Secondary Schoolbefore going on to attend theUniversity of Southern Californiawhere she graduated in 2006 with a degree in communications. She was CTV diver analyst during2012 Summer Olympics.

Diving career

Hartley won her first gold medal at the world aquatic championships in the 1 m springboard inFukuoka,Japanin 2001, and won a bronze at the2003 World Aquatics Championshipsin 3 m springboard inBarcelona,Spain.Her best finish at the2000 Summer Olympicswas in 3 m springboardsynchrowhere she finished 5th. She won her firstOlympic medalat the2004 Summer Olympicswhere she won a bronze with partnerÉmilie Heymansin the synchronized 10 m platform event.

Hartley also won a gold medal at the2005 World Aquatics Championshipsin Montreal in the springboard event.

The North Vancouver resident concluded her competitive career at the2008 Beijing Olympics,where sheplaced fourthin thethree-metre springboard.[3]
