Boendeis a city and capital ofTshuapa Province,lying on theTshuapa River,in theDemocratic Republic of Congo.It is ariver portwithriverboatssailing toKinshasaviaMbandakaand is also home to anairport.As of 2009, it had an estimated population of 36,158.[2]The national language used locally isLingala.
History
[edit]Boende was captured by mercenaries during theSimba rebellionin January 1964.[3]This battle was documented in theMondo documentaryAfrica Addio.
Climate
[edit]Boende has an equatorialtropical rainforest climate(KöppenAf) and is hot, humid and wet all year round without pronounced variations in temperature or rainfall.
