Boendeis a city and capital ofTshuapa Province,lying on theTshuapa River,in theDemocratic Republic of Congo.It is ariver portwithriverboatssailing toKinshasaviaMbandakaand is also home to anairport.As of 2009, it had an estimated population of 36,158.[2]The national language used locally isLingala.

History

Boende was captured by mercenaries during theSimba rebellionin January 1964.[3]This battle was documented in theMondo documentaryAfrica Addio.

Climate

Boende has an equatorialtropical rainforest climate(KöppenAf) and is hot, humid and wet all year round without pronounced variations in temperature or rainfall.
