Borealonectesis agenusofrhomaleosauridpliosauroid,a type ofplesiosaur.Its fossils were found in theCallovian-age (Middle Jurassic,about 165-161 million years ago)Hiccles Cove FormationofMelville Island,Canada,one of the islands in theCanadian Arctic Archipelago.It isbased ona skull, neckvertebrae,and the right forelimb of one individual. Named in 2008 by Sato and Wu,Borealonectesis one of the few plesiosaurs known from theJurassicofNorth America,and the firstmarine reptilefrom the Canadian Arctic with a well-preserved skull. Thetype speciesisB. russelli.[1]
