Boudhalso known as Boudhgarh is a town and aMunicipalityinBoudh districtin the state ofOdisha,India.It is the district headquarters of Boudh district. It is located on the bank ofMahanadi,the largest river of the state of Odisha.

Demographics

As of 2011Indiacensus,[2]Boudhgarh had a population of 20,424. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Boudhgarh has an average literacy rate of 72%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 58% of the males and 42% of females literate. 12% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Politics

CurrentMLAfrom Boudh Assembly Constituency isPradip Kumar Amat,Ex-Speaker in StateLegislative AssemblyOdisha. He was also the finance minister ofOdishafor some period of time after he won 2014 election and then he was changed to speaker now. He was previously also a speaker in 2009–2014. He won the seat in State elections of 2014,2009, 2004 ofBJDand also in 2000 as an independent candidate. Previous MLAs from this seat include Sachidananda Dalal ofJDwho won this seat in 1995 and 1990, Sujit Kumar Padhi ofINCin 1985, Himanshu Sekhar Pandhi of INC(I) in 1980, and Natabar Pradhan ofJNPin 1977.[3]

Boudh is part ofKandhamal Lok Sabha constituency.[4]
