TheByosyuke(‹See Tfd›Russian:Бёсюке;Yakut:Бөөһүкэ) is a river in theSakha Republic(Yakutia),Russia.It is one of the northernmost tributaries of theLena.The river has a length of 152 kilometres (94 mi) —263 km (163 mi) from the source of the Sakhandya— and adrainage basinarea of 5,780 square kilometres (2,230 sq mi).[1]

The river flows north of theArctic Circleacross desolate areas ofBulunsky District.The nearest inhabited place isKyusyur,located on the banks of the Lena, over 60 km (37 mi) northeast of its mouth.[2]The Byosyuke is a destination forgame fishingtours.[3]

Course

The Byosyuke is a righttributaryof the Lena. It has its origin on the western flank of the northern end of theOrulgan Range,Verkhoyansk Rangesystem. The Byosyuke is formed at the confluence of the Meychan and Sakhandya rivers. It flows roughly northwestwards, parallel to theTikyan,skirting the northern limit of theDzhardzhan Rangeand descending into afloodplainin its middle course. Towards the end it bends westwards and then southwestwards, forking into two in its last stretch and joining the right bank of the Lena 296 km (184 mi) from its mouth.[4][2]

The longest tributary of the Byosyuke is the 152 kilometres (94 mi) long Meychan (Мэйчээн) from the right.[5]
