Charles Henderson Yoakum(July 10, 1849 – January 1, 1909) was aU.S. RepresentativefromTexas.

Biography

Born nearTehuacana,Lincoln (now Limestone) County,Texas, Yoakum attended Larissa College inCherokee Countyand Cumberland College. He studiedlaw,wasadmitted to the barin 1874 and commenced practice inEmory, Texas.He served asprosecuting attorneyforRains Countyin 1876. He moved toHunt Countyin 1883 and continued the practice of law inGreenville.He served asdistrict attorneyfor the eighth judicial district 1886–1890. He served as member of theTexas Senate1892–1896.

Yoakum was elected as aDemocratto theFifty-fourth Congress(March 4, 1895 – March 3, 1897). He continued the practice of law inGreenville, Texas,until 1900, when he moved toLos Angeles, California. He returned to Texas in 1904. He died inFort Worth, Texas,January 1, 1909. He was interred in Myrtle Cemetery,Ennis, Texas.

Yoakum was a brother of railroad executiveBenjamin Franklin Yoakumand faith healer and social reformerFinis E. Yoakum.
