CBAF-FM-5is aFrench-languagepublicradio stationlocated inHalifax,Nova Scotia.It is part of theIci Radio-Canada PremièreNetwork.

Owned and operated by theCanadian Broadcasting Corporation,it broadcasts at 92.3MHzwith aneffective radiated powerof 91,000 watts, usinghorizontal polarization.It is aClass Cstation using anon-directional antenna.The broadcast tower is located on Washmill Lake Drive inClayton Park.The studios and offices are located on Chebucto Road in Halifax. The station also serves as the Première outlet for theIsland of Newfoundland,by way of two repeaters.

Programming

The station has an ad-freenews/talkformatand is part of theIci Radio-Canada Premièrenetwork, which operates across Canada. Like all Première stations, but unlike mostFMstations, it broadcasts inmono.

The station produces a morningdrive timeshow (Le Réveil,Monday to Friday from 6 to 9 a.m.) and a Saturday morning fill-in show (Ça se passe ICIfrom 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.). An afternoon drive time program,L'heure de pointe Acadiecomes fromCBAF-FMMoncton,which also airs onCBAF-FM-15inCharlottetown,Prince Edward Island.[1]

History

The stationsigned onin 1979 as arebroadcasterofCBAF1300 inMoncton.In 1987, it became a separate station, despite retaining a rebroadcaster-likecall sign.[2]

CBAF-FM-5 was originally identified asCBAF-19-FM.The call sign change took effect on September 1, 1989.[3] At that time, the old 1300 signal of CBAF was shut down.[4]
