C-C chemokine receptor type 1is aproteinthat in humans is encoded by theCCR1gene.[5]

CCR1 has also recently been designatedCD191(cluster of differentiation191).

Function

[edit]

This gene encodes a member of thebeta chemokine receptorfamily, which belongs toG protein-coupled receptors. The ligands of this receptor includeCCL3(or MIP-1 alpha),CCL5(or RANTES),CCL7(or MCP-3), andCCL23(or MPIF-1).Chemokinesand their receptors, which mediatesignal transduction, are critical for the recruitment of effectorimmune cellsto the site ofinflammation.Knockoutstudies of the mouse homolog suggested the roles of this gene in host protection from inflammatory response, and susceptibility to virus and parasite. This gene and other chemokine receptor genes, includingCCR2,CCRL2,CCR3,CCR5andCXCR1,are found to form a gene cluster on chromosome 3p.[6]

Interactions

[edit]

CCR1 has been shown tointeractwithCCL5.[7][8]
