These writings have greatly influenced theWestern esoteric traditionand were considered to be of great importance during both theRenaissanceand theReformation.The Hermetic tradition claims descent from aprisca theologia,a doctrine which affirms that a single, true theology exists which is present in all religions and was given byGodto humankind inantiquity.
