Cemmaes Road(Welsh:Glantwymyn;) is a village inPowys,Wales. It is in thecommunity(civil parish) ofGlantwymyn.
The village was named inEnglishafter the now-closedCemmes Roadstation on theNewtown and Machynlleth Railway,now part of theCambrian Line.Cemmes Road was also the junction with theMawddwy Railway.
TheWelshname for the village, and for thecommunity,isGlantwymyn(English:The Twymyn Riverside), as it lies on theRiver Twymyn.According to theUnited Kingdom Census 2001,thepopulationof the community is 1,072, increasing to 1,185 at the 2011 Census.
The village ofCemmaesis1+3⁄4miles to the northeast. Cemmaes Road lies at the junction of the majorA470andA489 roads.The historicMathafarnHall is less than1⁄2mile north-west of Cemmaes Road.
Ysgol Glantwymynprimary schoolis located in the village.
Governance[edit]
Anelectoral wardin the Welsh name exists, which also covers the neighbouring community ofCadfarch.The ward had a population of 2,040 at the 2011 Census.[2]
Welsh Language[edit]
According to the 2001 census, 58.5% of the people in the community can speak theWelsh language.The age group with the highest number of Welsh speakers is the 15-year-olds, where every 15-year-old could speak the language.
